2002 Federal Farm Bill

On May 2, 2002, the Senate and House Farm Bill conferees finalized the federal farm bill. REAP actively supported the energy title provisions, which allocate a landmark $201 million to assist farmers and ranchers in making energy efficiency improvements and developing on-farm renewable energy resources.

2005 Domenici-Barton Energy Policy Act of 2005

In July 2005, Congress enacted a federal energy bill. While the bill contains massive handouts to coal, nuclear, gas and oil, one bright spot is the national Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) that requires gasoline refiners to blend renewable fuels in increasing percentages annually.

U.S. EPA is charged with analysis and implementation of the RFS. REAP is participating in this process.
