Why You Should Replace Your Vehicle’s Oil Regularly

If you’re like most drivers, you may think that you don’t need to change your vehicle’s oil very often – but this isn’t always the case. Newer vehicles use oil that is more resistant to deteriorating, but even older vehicles should have their oil changed every 3,000 miles. Not doing so can lead to expensive repair bills down the road. So why not do it now and save yourself some money?

The Importance of Replacing Vehicle Oil

Regularly changing your vehicle’s oil is vital to keeping it running optimally. Not doing so can lead to more expensive repairs down the road. Newer vehicles use oil that is more resistant to deteriorating, but even older vehicles should have their oil changed every 3,000 miles. Not doing so can cause costly engine problems.

To ensure the best performance from your vehicle, always replace the oil when the manufacturer recommends. There are many different types of oils available, so be sure to choose one that matches your vehicle’s needs. Be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions carefully before starting the change. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask a family member or friend who may have experience with car repairs.

The Different Types of Oils

There are three main types of oil: mineral, synthetic, and mixed.

Mineral oil is made from crude oil and is the oldest type of oil. It has a high concentration of mineral oils, which makes it less resistant to deteriorating. Mineral oil should be replaced every 3,000 miles.

Synthetic oil is made from chemicals and is the most common type of oil. It has a higher resistance to deteriorating than mineral oil, but it also has other drawbacks. Synthetic oil should be replaced every 5,000 miles.

Mixed oil is a blend of both mineral and synthetic oil. It is a compromise between the two and has the best of both worlds. Mixed oil should be replaced every 7,500 miles.

How Often to Replace Vehicle Oil

If you own a newer vehicle, you may be thinking that you don’t need to replace your engine oil very often. However, this is not the case. Newer vehicles use oil that is more resistant to deteriorating, but even older vehicles should have their oil changed every 3,000 miles. Not doing so can lead to expensive repair bills down the road.

When it comes to your engine, keeping it running smoothly is key. If you don’t replace your engine oil regularly, the metal parts of your engine will start to wear down and this can cause problems down the road. For example, if your engine requires a lot of oil to run properly, it could fail prematurely due to lack of lubrication.

Even if your vehicle is relatively new, it’s still important to change your engine oil every 3,000 miles. Doing so will not only keep your engine running smoothly, but it will also extend the life of your vehicle. Remember: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

How to Replace Vehicle Oil

Replacing your vehicle’s oil is a must! Not doing so can lead to expensive repair bills down the road. Many people think that they don’t need to change their vehicle’s oil very often, but this is not the case. Newer vehicles use oil that is more resistant to deteriorating, but even older vehicles should have their oil changed every 3,000 miles. Not doing so can lead to degraded performance, knocking and pinging noise from the engine, failure of synthetic oil additives, and decreased fuel economy.

To change your vehicle’s oil, you will need the following:

1. Your Vehicle’s Owners Manual

2. A Phillips Head Screwdriver

3. Synthetic Motor Oil

4. Three Quarts of Oil (or a quart and a half for heavy-duty engines)

To change your vehicle’s oil, first remove the lug nuts from the wheel. You will then need to remove the cover on the engine. Next, locate the oil pan and unscrew it from the engine. Support the pan while you pull it off. Once it is off, you will be able to see the engine’s camshaft bearings and crankshaft. Remove the four screws that hold on the air filter. Carefully pull the air filter off of the engine and dispose of it in a safe place. Then, gently remove the five screws that secure the oil pump to the engine block. Carefully lift off the engine assembly.

Next, remove the oil filler cap and screw on new oil filler tube. This tube goes up through the hole in the bottom of the engine case and emerges out at the front of the engine. Pour three quarts of fresh oil into the engine and replace all of the old oil with new oil using a funnel or a pump. Be sure to get all of the old oil out of the engine by pouring it down the drain or into a waste container. Reattach all of the pieces in reverse order and torque all screws to specifications given in your vehicle’s owners manual. When you are finished, replace the oil pan, air filter, and oil pump cover and replace screws that secure them in place. Finally, replace lug nuts and torque them to specifications given in your vehicle’s owners manual.
